My neighbor, Dot Warman, ( she's 101 now) used to make this and give it out for gifts. This is a fun summer recipe to make with kids. You won't believe it's not the real thing! =) PS Just make sure the clover and roses have no spray or other chemicals on them. Ingredients:
10 cups white sugar |
3 cups water |
36 white clover blossoms |
18 red clover blossoms |
3 pink roses (the petals of) |
1 teaspoon alum |
Directions:
1. Pick blossoms and set aside. 2. In a medium pot, bring sugar and water to a boil for 6-7 minutes. 3. Stir in alum. 4. Remove from heat and add blossoms. 5. Let stand for 20 minutes. 6. Strain through a double layer of cheesecloth and bottle. |
