I have been making this recipe since 1997. It is always a big hit with the family. I serve it with salad & garlic bread. Can be made in the morning & refrigerated. Also reheats well in the microwave. There are many recipes with the same name (extra ingredients) or with a name change. After researching this recipe I do believe that this is the original. Ingredients:
8 ounces fine egg noodles |
16 ounces stewed tomatoes |
8 ounces tomato sauce |
2 teaspoons meat seasoning |
3/4 cup green onion, chopped |
1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, grated |
2 teaspoons salt |
3 ounces cream cheese |
1 cup sour cream |
1 lb lean ground beef |
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
2 teaspoons sugar |
Directions:
1. Cook noodles according to package directions. 2. Brown ground beef. Drain beef and add the next 7 ingredients. 3. In a medium size bowl, mix sour cream, onions, and cream cheese. 4. Mix beef mixture with sour cream mixture. 5. Combine with noodles in a 9 X 13 inch casserole dish. Cover with cheddar cheese. 6. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. 7. Notes:I used 12 oz. noodles, eliminated meat seasoning, 3 cloves of garlic to the meat while cooking instead of powder. |
