I had tried most everything to clean the porcelain enamel grates on my cooktop with little success. Then I read the use & care guide that came with the cooktop. How simple is this! NOTE: I used a plastic trash bag with a tie top. When entering this recipe , a plastic bag wasn't recognized but a ziploc was. Ignore that ingredient ;-) Ingredients:
1/4 cup ammonia |
1 ziploc bag |
Directions:
1. Place grates (and burner caps if you want) in a plastic bag. 2. Pour in ammonia. (the parts will NOT be submerged - the fumes do the cleaning). 3. Tie up the bag & wait 30 minutes. 4. Remove grates & rinse away the ammonia & cooked on food. ( Some of the really caked on residue may require minimal scrubbing but most will dissolve from the ammonia fumes.) 5. ** I did this outside but it would work just as well with the bag in your sink. Tip - turn the bag top away from you when opening as the fumes will plume out. |
