Gives me the warm fuzzies just thinking about this stuff. Comfort food at its best. Can someone pass the mashed potatoes please? :) Ingredients:
1/4 cup all-purpose flour |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon canola oil |
1 1/2 lbs round steaks, trimmed of all visible fat |
1 teaspoon canola oil |
2 teaspoons garlic, minced |
1 cup celery, chopped |
1 cup onion, sliced |
1/2 lb fresh mushrooms, sliced |
1 cup diced canned tomato |
1 cup water |
2 tablespoons steak sauce |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Place steak between pieces of waxed paper and pound meat on each side with a mallet to ensure tenderness. 3. Cut meat into bite-size pieces. 4. Combine flour, pepper, and salt; dredge meat in mixture. 5. Heat the 1 tablespoon canola oil in a skillet and brown meat; drain and place in a 2-1/2 quart casserole or baking dish. 6. Heat the 1 teaspoon canola oil in a skillet and saute garlic, celery and onion for 2 minutes, then add mushrooms. Continue to cook until onions become translucent. 7. Add tomatoes and mix thoroughly. 8. Place vegetables on top of meat. 9. Combine water and steak sauce; pour over vegetables. 10. Cover and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 1-1/2 hours or until the meat is tender. |
