This is from the Murphy family reunion cookbook. This recipe was from my great grandmother passed down to my Grandma Teresa and given to us by my Aunt Margaret Murphy.
Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients ,mix dough until sticky.
2. Put halfs in two 9 inch cake pans lightly greased.
3. Bake in preheated 350* oven for 1 hour.
4. Cut a cross in top of loafs when taken from the oven.
5. Best to eat the day it is baked.
6. Any leftovers makes great toast.
