Classic out-of-the-bird dressing. Ingredients:
1 c. butter |
2 c. chopped onion |
2 c. chopped celery |
1/2 c. minced parsley sprigs |
2 boxes stuffing mix (like mrs. cubbison's) |
1 tsp. poultry seasoning |
1 1/2 tsp. seasoned salt |
1 tsp. ground sage |
1 tsp. ground thyme |
1/2 tsp. pepper |
2 eggs--well beaten |
chicken or turkey broth (approx 3-4 cups) |
Directions:
1. Melt butter in a skillet and saute onion, celery, and parsley until onions are translucent. 2. Pour over bread cubes in a very large mixing bowl. Mix well. 3. Add seasonings. Mix well. 4. Add half of the broth to moisten. Mix well. 5. Add eggs. Mix well. 6. Add broth until mixture is moistened through, but not overly soggy. 7. Pack lightly into 2 loaf pans. 8. Put into the oven for approx 1 hour at 325-350 degrees F. Bake until top is browned. |
