Put these on before you leave for work, or cook them overnight and refrigerate until dinnertime. If you make this recipe a day ahead, refrigerate overnight and remove fat from the sauce before reheating. If you reheat in the microwave, use 50% power. Southern Living, JANUARY 2007 bone-in country-style pork ribs, salt, onion, light brown sugar, apple butter, ketchup, lemon juice, orange juice, steak sauce, coarse ground pepper, garlic, Worcestershire sauce cvt Ingredients:
18 ounces meat, cooked per recipe, net from 4 pounds fresh bone-in country-style pork ribs |
2 teaspoons salt, divided |
1 medium onion, chopped |
220 g (1 cup firmly packed) light brown sugar |
1 cup apple butter |
1 cup ketchup |
1/2 cup lemon juice |
1/2 cup orange juice |
17 g (1 tablespoon) steak sauce |
1 teaspoon (coarse) ground pepper |
1 teaspoon minced garlic |
1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce |
Directions:
1. (I have no idea what the fresh to trimmed cooked ratio is, but guessed 3 ounces meat per serving.) 2. Cut ribs apart, if necessary, and trim excess fat; sprinkle 1 tsp. salt evenly over ribs. 3. Stir together remaining 1 tsp. salt, onion, and next 9 ingredients until blended. Pour half of onion mixture into a 5-qt. slow cooker. Place ribs in slow cooker, and pour remaining mixture over ribs. 4. Cover and cook on HIGH 6 to 7 hours or until ribs are tender. Garnish with parsley, if desired. |
