Traditional dish served in the Orkney Islands, Scotland. Serve it with haggis! Well, ok, you can serve it to accompany just about any meat dish. Filling, healthy and homey. If you serve the mashed potatoes and cut turnips separately, you have Tatties and Neeps . Ingredients:
1 lb potatoes, peeled |
1 lb turnips (swedes) |
1 tbs chopped chives |

1small onion, chopped |
1 to 2 tbs butter |
salt and pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. Boil potatoes and turnips separately, drain very dry. 2. Mash them together while still hot. 3. Stir in remaining ingredients. 4. Season with salt and pepper. 5. If desired, add a sprinkle of nutmeg or mace. 6. Serve hot. |
