Can be assembled ahead of time and frozen before baking Ingredients:
1 can (6-1/2 oz.) minced clams |
2 t diced onion |
5 t butter or margarine, divided |
2 t flour |
3-1/2 t prepared horseradish |
1/4 t garlic powder |
1/4 t worcestershire sauce |
dash of salt |
9 slices of white bread, crusts removed |
paprika |
Directions:
1. Drain clams, reserving juice; set aside. 2. In a skillet, saute onion in 1 tablespoon of butter until tender. 3. Stir in flour until blended. 4. Gradually add horseradish, garlic power, worcestershire sauce, salt and reserved clam juice. 5. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or unti thickened. 6. Remove from heat; stir in clams. 7. Flatten bread with a rolling pin. 8. Melt remaining butter; brush one side of each slice of bread. 9. Spread with clam mixture; roll up. 10. Brush with remaining butter; sprinkle with paprika. 11. Cut rolls into thirds; place on a greased baking sheet 12. Bake at 425 deg. F for 5-8 minutes or until lightly brown. 13. Serve warm 14. Yield: 27 appetizers |
