this is a whole lot beter than a loe can chowder Ingredients:
4 slices bacon, cut in small cubes |
3 green onions and tops , chopped |
5 medium sized potatoes peeled and cut in 1/2 cubes |
2 tbl. chopped green pepper |
1 stalk celery sliced |
1 carrot finely sliced |
1 clove garlic minced |
2 cup water |
salt and pepper |
1 teas worcestershire |
4 drops tabasco |
2 cup chopped raw clams with juice |
1 pint light cream |
Directions:
1. in a large, heavy kettle, saute bacon until crisp; add green onions and tops, potatoes,green pepper,celery,carrot, and garlic. 2. pour in water and season with salt, pepper,worcestershire and tabasco. cover pan and simmer 15 minutes, or untill potatoes are tender. mash mixture slightly with potato masher. in a seperate pan, heat clams in there own juice for 3 minutes, or till tender. add clams to soup; add cheese. stir well 3. then heat just until piping hot don't boil 4. serves 4 as a main dish |
