Lovely scones that I personaly make with Splenda replacing the sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon They look most inviting with a fanned strawberry on top for garnish, Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour |
1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts |
4 1/2 teaspoons sugar |
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (or to taste) |
1/4 cup cold butter or 1/4 cup margarine |
2 eggs |
1/3 cup whipping cream |
1/4 cup buttermilk |
Directions:
1. In a bowl, combine the first six ingredients, cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 2. Combine eggs and cream, stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. 3. Turn onto a floured surface, gently pat into a 7-inch circle, 3/4 inch thick. 4. Cut tino 8 wedges. 5. Separate wedges, place on a greased baking sheet. 6. Brush top with buttermilk and let rest 15 minutes. 7. Bake at 400 degrees for 14-16 minutes, or until golden brown. |
