This is an awesome cookie recipe my mom made for me growing up. It has Pennsylvania Dutch roots, great for the holidays or for a treat. Ingredients:
1 cup butter |
2 cups granulated sugar |
2 eggs |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
2 1/2 cups sifted flour |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2 tablespoons cinnamon |
2 tablespoons granulated sugar |
1 cup walnuts (finely chopped) |
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar. 2. Add eggs and vanilla, beat well with electric mixer for 2 minutes on medium speed. 3. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. ( At this point, I use dough hooks instead of the beaters.). 4. Chill dough 1-2 hours. 5. In a small bowl, mix nuts, cinnamon, and 2 tbls. sugar. 6. Mold dough into 1 inch balls. 7. Roll each ball in the mixture of of sugar, cinnamon, and nuts. 8. Place balls 2 1/2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. 9. Bake 350* for 12 minutes. |
