This is a terrific comfort food dessert that easily doubles as a wonderful breakfast Ingredients:
14 thick slices of cinnamon bread (1/2 inch or so thick) |
6 eggs |
3 additional egg yolks |
1 cup sugar |
3 cups milk |
2 cups half and half |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
powdered sugar |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees 2. lightly grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dish 3. Arrange bread in a double layer in baking dish cutting to fit if needed 4. In a large bowl combine using a whisk all the remaining ingredients except the powdered sugar 5. Pour wet mixture over the bread in the baking pan 6. Bake in oven for 25 to 30 minutes until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean 7. dust with the powdered sugar and serve |
