You'll find cinnamon chips on the baking aisle with chocolate and butterscotch chips. Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter, softened |
3 tablespoons powdered sugar |
3 tablespoons brown sugar |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
1/3 cup cinnamon chips |
1/3 cup chopped pecans |
2 large egg whites |
2/3 cup packed brown sugar |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°. 2. Beat butter with a mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, vanilla, and salt, beating well. 3. Lightly spoon flour into a dry measuring cup; level with a knife. Gradually add flour to butter mixture, beating just until moist. Press flour mixture into bottom of an 8-inch square baking pan. Sprinkle cinnamon chips and pecans over flour mixture. 4. Beat egg whites with a mixer at high speed until foamy. Gradually beat in 2/3 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until stiff peaks form. Spread egg white mixture over cinnamon chips and pecans. Bake at 350° for 20 to 22 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly; cut into 16 bars. |
