Along with Cindy's Meatballs, this from scratch sauce recipe sustained all the employees on Black Friday. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil |
1 cup onion, chopped |
3 garlic cloves, minced |
1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped |
2 (28 ounce) cans tomatoes, peeled crushed |
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste |
2 teaspoons sugar |
2 teaspoons basil leaves, dried |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1 teaspoon oregano |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
Directions:
1. In a 5 quart dutch oven, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic and parsley. Cook stirring, 1 minute. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, 45 minutes. |
