This is an old recipe that I got out of an old Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. This is the only one my kids love to make. I use the thick sliced Texas Toast for the bread but any thick sliced bread will work. Ingredients:
3 eggs |
3/4 cup milk |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
8 slices white bread, thick sliced |
Directions:
1. Heat 1 T. margarine or butter in a skillet over medium heat until melted. 2. Beat everything together but bread in a bowl. 3. Dip bread into egg mixture; cook until golden brown, about 4 minutes on each side. 4. OVEN METHOD:. 5. Heat oven to 500 degrees. Butter cookie sheet generously. 6. Beat eggs, milk, sugar and salt with fork. Heat cookie sheet in oven 1 minute; remove from oven. Dip gread into egg mixture; arrange on hot cookie sheet. Drizzle any remaining egg mixture over bread. BAke until bottoms are golden brown, 5 to 8 minutes. Turn bread; bake until golden brown, 2 to 4 minutes. Enjoy - . |
