Don't remember where I picked up this recipe but I've 'tweaked' it anyway. I've included regular oven method or easy crockpot cooking method. This is a GREAT time of year to have a crowd-pleasing recipe of beans. Read more . Kids love 'em, they're great to take to pot-lucks and your friends will be asking for the recipe! Ingredients:
• 1/2 lb bacon, cooked & chopped |
• 1.5 lb. ground beef, cooked, drained |
• 3 med. onions, diced & cooked w/the beef |
• 112 oz canned baked beans (4 – 28 oz. cans) - you can mix diff beans if you desire |
• 1 c brown sugar |
• 2 tsp. liquid smoke |
• 1 med. green pepper, diced |
• 1 1/2 c ketchup |
• 1 c molasses |
• couple dashes of hot sauce |
Directions:
1. CROCKPOT METHOD: Brown beef. Throw all ingredients in the crockpot. Cook according to temperature guidance listed above recipe ingredients. 2. OVEN METHOD: Combine all ingredients into a 13 x 9 pan. Bake Uncovered approx. 1.5 hours till heated through and bean ‘consistency’ is as you like it. 3. COOK TIMES ARE AS FOLLOWS: Crockpot - cook 3-4 hrs on HIGH or 7-9 hrs on LOW. For a regular oven, cook at 350 degrees approx. 1.5 hrs till heated through and the beans are the 'consistency' that you desire. |
