Ethnic dessert . Love these . Kind of melts in your mouth if you leave them there long enough !! Also don't use too much flour when rolling. I double recipe & make a lot so it was too hard to say how many it makes Ingredients:
6 egg yolks |
2 cups flour |
1/2 cup sour cream |
1 tsp. vanilla |
1/2 tsp. salt |
1 tsp. lemon rind ,grated |
1 tbsp. sugar |
4-oz. rum |
powdered sugar |
oil for deep frying |
Directions:
1. Beat egg yolks until creamy and lemon colored 2. Add sugar gradually and beat constantly 3. Alternately add flour,salt and sour cream 4. Lastly add vanilla, lemond rind and rum 5. Knead dough 15 min. until it does not cling to hands 6. Separate dough into several portions 7. Roll very thin ( I like to use my metal pasta maker as it rolls thin sheets) 8. When rolling try not to use a lot of flour or won't be as delicate 9. Turn dough & loosen from board often when rolling 10. Cut dough into strips approx. 1 1/2 in. wide, 4 in. long. 11. Make slit closer to one end and bring longer end through slit. 12. Heat oil to 375 F and fry quickly( only a few seconds) until light brown. Turn only once 13. Drain on paper towels 14. Dust with powdered sugar |
