Christmas Noggin is an old traditional English way of making fruit preserves. It is a more interesting and wholesome form of preserved fruit . It was usually opened and eaten at Christmas time, because of it's tendency to make everyone merry . Ingredients:
1 apple, peeled cored and sectioned |
1 pear, peeled cored and sectioned |
3 peaches, peeled cored and stone removed |
3 oranges, peeled cored and sectioned |
1 lb grapes, seedless |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup brandy or 1/2 cup whiskey |
1 lemon, juice of |
1 cup white wine |
Directions:
1. Place all fruits into a 1 quart jar. Make sure fruit is tight and jammed to the top. 2. Mix last 4 ingredients together, then pour into the jar with the fruit. 3. Seal jar TIGHT, place in a dark place and open at Christmas. 4. Serve with whipped cream, or hot custard or ice cream. |
