I came up with this recipe from combining many other recipes. I was in search of a thick great tasting hot dog meat sauce with lots of flavor. This hot dog sauce may be a bit spicy so you may want to reduce the spicy spices. This is also a sweet hot dog sauce so you may want to reduce the brown sugar amount. My family loved this and we served our dogs with melted Cheez Whiz drizzled over the hot dog sauce.
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
3 minced garlic cloves
1 tablespoon minced dried onion
2 1/2 cups tomato sauce
1/4 teaspoon mustard
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1/8 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 dash cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Directions:
1. Cooking over medium heat brown the ground beef with the garlic cloves and dried minced onion.
2. Do not drain.
3. Once the ground beef has completely browned add the tomato sauce, mustard, ketchup, vinegar, worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar to the ground beef stirring till combined.
4. Then stir in the paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, cayenne pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder stirring until combined.
5. Continue cooking on medium heat until thick.
