Christie's Spaghetti and Meatballs |

This has been a firm favourite of mine since I was a little girl. This recipe is from a New Zealander ( kiwi ) so the measurements are not standard US ones. 500 grams is roughly a pound. 1 cup is 250ml. Garlic, Salt and Pepper are to taste. I make the meatballs about the size of a walnut. Ingredients:
500 g minced beef |
1 onion (chopped) |
1 cup breadcrumbs |
1 pinch nutmeg |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
3 tablespoons tomato ketchup |
2 eggs (lightly beaten) |
1 pinch cinnamon |
1 pinch ground cloves |
3 tablespoons oil |
1 garlic clove |
220 g tomato sauce |
1 cup water |
Directions:
1. Mix mince, onion, breadcrumbs, ketchup, eggs, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, salt and pepper together. 2. Shape into balls. 3. Heat oil in a large frying pan and brown the meatballs and the garlic. 4. Combine the tomato sauce and water and add to frying pan. 5. Cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes. 6. Cook spaghetti noodles. 7. Serve garnished with cheese and parsley. |
