Another recipe from The Ultimate Chocolate Cookbook from the Family Circle Magazine...1997... This has a white chocolate sauce over it... Ingredients:
6 cups cubed stale italian bread |
1 cup chopped toasted walnuts |
4 cups milk |
3 tablespoons unslated butter |
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
4 ounces semisweet chocolate |
4 eggs |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
white chocolate sauce |
1 cup heavy cream |
2 tablespoons granulated sugar |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons cornstarch, dissolved in 1 tablespoons cold water |
3 ounces white chocolate |
1/4 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees; grease shallow 2 quart baking dish with butter. 2. Add bread, walnuts to dish. 3. Combine 2 cups milk, butter, sugar, salt in saucepan; bring to simmer; stir to melt butter; remove from heat. 4. Add chocolates; let stand 5 minutes; whisk until smooth. 5. Whisk eggs, vanilla and remaining milk in bowl. 6. Whisk into chocolate mixture; pour over bread. 7. Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until set in center. 8. For the sauce... 9. Bring cream, sugar and salt in saucepan to a simmer. 10. Stir in cornstarch; simmer, stirring, until thickened, about 1 minute. 11. Remove from heat. 12. Stir in white chocolate and vanilla until smooth. 13. Serve over warm or room temp pudding. |
