Delicious, and makes 96 bars! They hold up well on cookie plates, and also freeze beautifully. Great for gatherings or parties. Besides all that, they are wonderfully delicious! Ingredients:
3 cups quick oats |
2-1/2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1-1/4 teaspoons salt, divided |
2 sticks unsalted butter, softened |
2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed |
2 eggs |
4 teaspoons vanilla, divided |
1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk |
1-1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips |
2 tablespoons butter |
1/2 cup chopped nuts (i use pecans) |
Directions:
1. In large bowl, combine oats, flour, soda, and 1 teaspoon salt 2. In mixer bowl, beat the 2 sticks butter, adding brown sugar, beat until fluffy 3. Add eggs, 2 teaspoons vanilla to butter mixture, beating well 4. Add dry ingredients, mixing on low speed, until smooth, and well combined 5. In saucepan, heat condensed milk, chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons butter, 1/4 teaspoon salt over low heat until smooth 6. Remove from heat, stir in nuts, 2 teaspoons vanilla 7. Pat 2/3 of oat mixture into bottom of ungreased 15 X 10 baking dish or pan 8. Spread warm chocolate mixture over dough 9. Dot with remaining oat mixture, pressing gently 10. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes 11. Cool on wire rack 12. This recipe makes 96 bars |
