A torte is a cake made with lotsa ground nuts instead of or in addition to flour . They are Central European in origin. The word torte is derived from the Italian word torta which was used to describe a round cake . Read more . A element common to most tortes is sweet icing . When the cake is layered, a thick covering of icing is placed between the layers, but there is almost always icing on the tops and sides of the torte. Ingredients:
3 eggs |
250 g dark baking chocolate , melted |
3/4 c hazelnut , grounded |
1/2 c whipped cream |
topping |
8 to 12 hazelnuts, whole |
100 g dark baking chocolate |
1/3 c cream |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven at 150 deg . 2. Grease a 20 cm cake pan . 3. In a double boiler , beat the eggs until light and foamy . 4. remove from heta . 5. Use a wooden spoon tp mix the nuts and chocolate into it . 6. Fold in the cream . 7. Pour in the cake pan and let it stand inside a shallow baking dish filled with hot water halfway . 8. Bake for an hour or so , until set . 9. Cool and chill overnight , wrapped . 10. Next day invert the cake on a 18 cm cake board , remove the baking paper and allow the cake tp return to room temperature . 11. For Topping : 12. Microwave the cream , dark baking chocolate ,until smooth . 13. Dip the nuts abit in chocolate mix and stick to the edge of the cake . 14. Now pour rest of the chocolate mix in the middle of the cake and tilt it abit in circle , making sure the cake is fully covered . 15. Even and smoothen the sides of the cake too . 16. Chill the cake until set and transfer it to the serving plate . 17. Slice it thinly serve along with a scoop of vanilla icecream and some fresh fruit wedges |
