Lovely little tea bread, mellows with age. Cream cheese is great on the slices Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter, softened |
2/3 cup sugar |
1 egg |
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1/3 cup cocoa |
1 tsp. baking soda |
1/4 tsp. salt |
1 cup buttermilk |
Directions:
1. Cream butter, sugar and egg in large mixer bowl until light and fluffy. 2. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture. 3. Beat on low speed just until blended. 4. Pour into greased 8-1/2x4-1/2x2-1/2 inch loaf pan. 5. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes. 6. Remove from pan; cool completely on wire rack and slice. |
