This looks wonderful. I think it would be great to give as a gift or to serve for breakfast on a holiday. Ingredients:
2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
3/4 cup applesauce |
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, softened |
1/2 cup water |
3 large eggs |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
3/4 cup chopped pecans |
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. 2. Grease and flour (I just use Pam) 2 loaf pans. 3. In a large mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, applesauce, cocoa powder, butter, water, eggs, baking soda, salt and vanilla. 4. Beat at low speed 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. 5. Beat in pecans and chocolate chips. 6. Pour into baking pans. 7. Bake 45 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. 8. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 minutes. 9. Remove if desired. 10. Cool breads completely. |
