yummy chinese steam bun, with a chocolate twist! Ingredients:
3/4 cup all-purpose flour |
1/2 tsp baking powder |
1 tbsp granulated sugar |
1/2 tsp yeast |
1/4 cup water |
1/4 tsp corn oil |
3/4 cup all-purpose flour |
1 tbsp cocoa powder |
1/2 tsp baking powder |
1 tbsp granulated sugar |
1/2 tsp yeast |
1/4 cup water |
Directions:
1. Mix together yeast and warm water (first set of ingredients), proof for 5 minutes. 2. Mix together flour, baking powder and sugar (first set of ingredients). 3. Add yeast mixture fo flour mixture and knead into firm, but soft and smooth, dough. Add more water if necessary. 4. Add oil, smooth out dough and let rest for 30- 60 minutes, covered. 5. Follow directions as above for the chocolate dough, but add the cocoa powder to the flour mixture and omit the oil. 6. Once doughs are proofed roll each into a equal sized rectangular sheets (approx 1/4 inch thick) and place one ontop of the other. 7. Roll doughs like a swiss roll and cut into portions. 8. Let buns rest, covered, for 15 minutes. 9. Steam for 10 minutes. |
