The chocolate version of a shortcake!!!!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups unsifted self-rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2/3 cup unsalted butter, cold
2/3 cup semi sweet morsels, coarsely chopped
2/3 cup milk
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Grease 8 inch round cake pan.
3. In large bowl mix first 3 ingredients; mix well.
4. With pastry blender mix butter just until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
5. Add semi sweet chocolate morsels and the milk.
6. With a fork stir gently just until dry ingredients are moistened.
7. Spread batter into prepared pan, smoothing top evenly.
8. Bake 25 minutes or until sides of cake pull away from pan.
9. Cool cake in pan on wire rack 10 minutes.
10. With a knife loosen edges and invert cake on to pan.
11. This cake can be cut in half with a serrated knife and filled with whipped cream and fruit of any kind.
