Here is a recipe that is great for a crowd pleaser - It makes a large sheet pan and can be cut into small squares to be enjoyed with coffee after that wonderful meal you just served!! Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
2 cups sugar |
1/2 cup margarine |
1/2 cup cooking oil |
1 cup water |
3 tablespoons cocoa |
2 eggs |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 cup margarine |
3 tablespoons cocoa |
4 tablespoons milk |
1 lb powdered sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 cup nuts, chopped |
Directions:
1. In large bowl, sift together flour and sugar. 2. Bring to a boil the following: margarine, cooking oil, water and cocoa. Whip into flour and sugar. 3. Mix together egg, buttermilk soda and vanilla and then add to mixture. Batter will be thin. 4. Bake in a large sheet pan or two small sheet pans at 350F about 25 minutes or until done. 5. ICING:. 6. Bring to a boil: margarine, cocoa, milk, powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix while hot. Pour on warm cake. 1/2 cup chopped nuts may be added to icing. |
