From a recipe book I got at a yard sale. It was one put together by members of a church and seems to be dated 1976/77. Guess on servings and prep time. Ingredients:
3 bars german's sweet chocolate (probably means 3oz) (*can use semi sweet and 3t sugar) |
3tbps. water |
5tbsp. powdered sugar |
1tsp vanilla |
6 eggs (separated) |
18 ladyfingers |
Directions:
1. Melt chocolate. 2. Add water and sugar and cook in double broiler until smooth. (nowadays it could probably be done easier in a bowl in the microwave, add chocolate water and sugar and start with 2 minutes and then every 45-60sec stirring until smooth) 3. When chocolate is cool, add vanilla and egg yolks, one at at time, beating after each addition. 4. When thoroughly cool, add stiffly beaten egg whites. 5. Line pan with ladyfingers and pour in mixture. 6. Refrigerate 4-5 hours. 7. Serve with whipped cream and maraschino cherry. |
