Ingredients:
1 cup shortening |
2 cups sugar |
4 eggs |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1 cup buttermilk |
3 cups all-purpose flour |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 (4-ounce) package sweet baking chocolate, melted |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
2 teaspoons butter flavoring |
Directions:
1. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. 2. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Combine flour and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Add chocolate, beating well. Stir in flavorings. 3. Pour batter into a well greased 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 25 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan 15 minutes; remove cake from pan, and let cool completely. |
