Ingredients:
1/4 cup shortening
2 sticks butter softened
3 cups granulated sugar
5 eggs
3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Cream shortening, butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
3. Add eggs one at a time beating for 1 minute after each addition.
4. Measure flour and sift it together with cocoa and baking powder.
5. Sift again.
6. Mix buttermilk and vanilla together in a cup then add to creamed mixture alternating with dry ingredients in thirds.
7. Mix gently just until well blended.
8. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
9. Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
