Chocolate-Potato Cake

This cake is one of my mothers fav., very old recipe. It's moist and dark.
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup mashed potatoes
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup milk
1 cup chopped nuts
Directions:
1. Mix dry ingredients together.
2. Set aside.
3. Cream together: shortening, and sugar.
4. Add eggs, beat well.
5. Add potatoes and vanilla.
6. Blend well.
7. Stir in dry ingredients alternately with the milk.
8. Stir in nuts.
9. Pour into greased/sprayed 9x13 pan.
10. Bake 350F for 40-45 minutes or test with toothpick for doneness.
