I have not tried this recipe. I'm posting this recipe for safe keeping. I found this recipe in From Babas' Kitchen To Ours cookbook. Ingredients:
1 cup mashed potatoes |
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 tablespoon baking powder |
8 tablespoons butter or 8 tablespoons margarine, softened |
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate squares, melted (4-1oz squares) |
2 cups sugar |
4 eggs |
3/4 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Place all ingredients, except the chocolate, in a large bowl. With an electric mixer on low speed, mix until well blended, occasionally scraping the bowl with a spatula. Then beat at medium speed for 4 minutes. Add chocolate and blend throughly. 2. Butter a 9x13-inch baking pan. Pour batter into pan. Bake in a preheated 350 oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick pushed into the centre comes out clean. 3. Or bake in three 9-inch layer pans for 20 minutes, or until thoothpick comes out clean. 4. Let stand for 10 minutes; remove from pans and cool on a wire rack. Ice as desired. |
