From a gourmet cooking magazine, forgot which, comes this version of this classic. this recipe is practicallly flourless. when chilled the flavors blend nicely. Ingredients:
10 oz. unsweetened chocolate |
3/4 cup butter |
3/4 cup port wine |
5 eggs separated |
3/4 cup plus 3 tbs sugar |
1/2 cup flour |
1 cup chopped walnuts |
1/2 tsp cream of tartar |
glaze |
6 oz semisweet chocolate chips |
1/2 cup butter |
1/2 tbs corn syrup |
1/2 cup port wine |
1/2 tsp vanilla |
Directions:
1. Melt chocolate, butter and wine over low heat. 2. Beat egg yolks with 3/4 cup sugar on high speed for 2 minutes. 3. Fold in cooled chocolate mixture. 4. Blend in flour and nuts. 5. Whip whites with the cream of tartar until soft peaks. 6. Add the 3 Tbs sugar and whip to stiff peaks. 7. Carefully fold into mixture. 8. Place into a greasedtube pan and bake 325 degrees about 45 minutes or tested done with atoothpick. 9. Cool in pan 10 minutes. 10. Invert onto serving plate. 11. Cool and add glaze. 12. For glaze, heat all ingredients until melted and cool. 13. Stir till mixture is spreadable |
