These require a little time and a little effort but you will be proud of the finished product. Pretty, buttery, chocolatey, tasty and very impressive. Enjoy Ingredients:
1-1/4 cups butter |
1-1/2 cups powdered sugar |
1 egg |
3 cups all purpose flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 cup cocoa |
Directions:
1. Mix butter, sugar and egg then stir in flour and salt. 2. Divide dough in half then stir cocoa into half the dough and refrigerate one hour. 3. On floured pastry cloth roll plain dough into a rectangle. 4. Roll chocolate dough the same size then place on top then roll out until 3/16” thick. 5. Starting at the long edge roll dough into a log then wrap and chill for one hour or longer. 6. Heat oven to 400 then slice dough into 1/8” slices. 7. If dough crumbles while slicing let it warm a bit. 8. Place 1 apart on ungreased baking sheets then bake 8 minutes until set but not brown. 9. Remove from sheets immediately and cool on racks. |
