Another family favorite. These taste great and travel well to potlucks and in lunch boxes. USA treat that I've been making in Indiana :) (Edited to include where to add the eggs and vanilla - thanks to Lavender Lynn:) Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 3/4 cups brown sugar |
1 cup peanut butter |
1/2 cup butter, softened |
3 eggs |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
3 ounces semisweet chocolate (sold in 1 ounce squares) |
1 ounce unsweetened chocolate |
6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 2. Over a double boiler, melt chocolate squares; set aside to cool. 3. In a mixing bowl cream together sugar, peanut butter and butter. 4. Beat in eggs and vanilla. 5. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt; mix well. 6. Pat 1/3 of the dough into an ungreased 9x13 pan. 7. Place 1/3 of the dough into a separate bowl and stir in the melted chocolate and 3/4 cup chocolate chips. 8. In random pattern, drop remaining chocolate and peanut butter doughs over the bottom layer; pat down. 9. Sprinkle with remaining chips. 10. Bake for 25-30 minutes. 11. Cool; cut into 24 bars. |
