This is a great recipe for company...Everyone loves Italian Cream but a chocolate one is devine.....I got this recipe out of Tea Time.... Ingredients:
1/2 cup stick butter |
1/2 cup shortening |
2 cups sugar |
5 eggs (separated) |
2 cups cake flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 cup cocoa |
1 cup buttermilk |
1/2 cup sour cream |
2 tablespoons vanilla extract |
1/2 cup coconut (topping) |
1/2 cup chopped pecans (topping) |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Cream together butter, shortening, and sugar. 3. Add egg yolks one at a time. 4. Mix in flour, baking soda, cocoa, buttermilk, sour cream and vanilla extract. 5. Mix together for 2 minutes or until batter is smooth. 6. In a separate bowl, whisk egg whites, and fold into cake batter. 7. Spray three 9 inch pans; divide batter into three equal amounts and fill cake pans. 8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. |
