My mother got this recipe from a restaurant she worked at in Springfield, Vermont. She now makes it at her grandsons' request! Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine |
1/4 cup cornstarch |
3/4 cup sugar |
2 1/2 cups milk |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/4 cup cocoa |
4 egg yolks |
1 dash salt |
baked pie shell |
Directions:
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan. 2. Whisk in the cornstarch. 3. Add the remaining ingredients and heat on low until thickened. 4. Pour into the pie shell. 5. Cool to room temperature or refrigerate before serving. |
