A REALLY GREAT FAVE OF MINE AND THE REST OF THE FAMILY, THEY GO VERY QUICKLY TOO - THEY ARE MORISH Ingredients:
for the choux pastry |
2 oz. flour |
1 oz. butter |
1 gill of water |
a pinch of salt |
4 drops of vanilla essence |
1 egg |
quantities may be doubled to make a larger number of buns |
for the chocolate icing |
2 oz grated chocolate |
8 oz. icing sugar |
1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence |
1/4 gill of water |
Directions:
1. Heat the water and butter in a pan and when boiling add the sifted Flour. 2. Stir briskly whilst still heating until the paste ois smooth. 3. when cool, beat in the Egg. 4. Place dessertspoonfuls of the mixture on to a greased baking sheet 5. Bake at Gas mark 5 for 1 hour. 6. When cooked, and cooled, slit the bun and pipe in beaten Fresh cream. 7. ICING 8. Boil the water and chocolate together for a few minutes until quite smooth. 9. stir in the Icing sugar until thick enough to run the chocolate mix over the top of the Buns 10. THIS SAME RECIPE EXACTLY CAN BE USED ASA FOR CHOCOLATE ECLAIRS, BUT YOU WILL NEED - FOR BEST RESULTS - AN ECLAIR BAKING TIN. |
