old family recipe Ingredients:
1 cup oleo |
4 tablespoons cocoa |
1 cup water |
2 cups sugar |
2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
2 eggs |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 cup oleo |

6 tablespoons buttermilk |
1 (1 lb) box powdered sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 cup walnuts |
Directions:
1. In 3 quart pan put 2 sticks oleo, 4 T. 2. cocoa and 1 cup water. 3. Bring to a rapid boil. 4. Remove from heat and add 2 cups sugar, 2 cups flour, 1 t. 5. soda, 2 t. 6. cinnamon. 7. Mix well then add 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2 eggs, and 1 t. 8. vanilla. 9. Bake in jelly roll pan 15 x 16 1/2 x 1 for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees. 10. Do not make until cake is cool. 11. Use same pan- bring to a boil 1 stick oleo, 4 T. 12. cocoa, 6 T. 13. buttermilk. 14. Remove from heat and add 1# box powered sugar, 1 t. 15. vanilla, 1 t. 16. cinnamon, and 1 cup walnuts. 17. Spread on cake. |
