Chocolate Chip Pound Cake Squares

A dessert that is reminiscent of old-fashioned pound cake with a sauce that is a chocolate dream. From Land-O-Lakes Cookbook.
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup butter or 2/3 cup margarine, softened
3 eggs
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup semisweet mini chocolate chips
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup semisweet mini chocolate chips
1/2 cup whipping cream
Directions:
1. heat oven to 350*F.
2. in large mixer bowl combine sugar and butter. beat at low speed, scraping bowl often until light and fluffy. continue beating, adding eggs one at a time, until creamy.
3. by hand fold in remaining cake ingredients.
4. pour into greased 9 sq baking pan.
5. bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, remove from oven and set aside.
6. in 1 qt saucepan place 1 cup chocolate chips and whipping cream. cook over low heat, stirring constantly until chocolate is melted.
7. serve sauce over squares.
