A rich chocolate cake. Ingredients:
1 cup boiling water |
1 cup dates, cut up |
1 cup oil |
1 cup sugar |
2 eggs |
3 teaspoons cocoa |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 pinch salt |
1 1/2 cups flour |
1 (8 ounce) package chocolate chips |
1 cup walnuts, chopped |
1/4 cup sugar |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 2. Pour boiling water over dates and set aside to cool. 3. Mix 1 cup sugar, oil, eggs, cocoa, dates with water, baking soda, salt and vanilla together and blend well. 4. Stir in the flour until well blended. 5. Pour into a greased and floured 9x13-inch cake pan. 6. Sprinkle the topping ingredients on top of cake mixture in this order: chocolate chips, walnuts and sugar. 7. Bake for 35-40 minutes. Cool. |
