Not sure exactly where this recipe originated from, my mother, raised is the Mississippi Delta, passed it down to me - It has been a long standing tradition for Holidays, Pot Lucks and just about anytime a dessert was needed. You can make it in 2 large Pies or 22 individual pie shells - (These are a little harder to find these days) Ingredients:
3 cups sugar |
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa |
4 eggs |
1/2 cup butter |
10 ounces evaporated milk |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 pinch salt |
Directions:
1. Mix Sugar and Cocoa together until blended. 2. add all other ingredients until well blended - Do not over mix. 3. Pour in pie shells. 4. Once cooled top with whip topping and shaved chocolate sprinkles. 5. I make 2 large pies or 22 tarts. |
