This old-fashioned chocolate chess pie is from the R.S.V.P. section of a May 1986 issue of Bon Appetit.It was requested from Primo's Cafe in Jackson,Mississippi Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups sugar |
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder |
1/4 cup butter, melted (1/2 stick) |
2 eggs |
10 tablespoons evaporated milk |
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1 unbaked 8-inch pie shell |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Mix sugar cocoa powder and butter in medium bowl. 3. Add eggs and beat well. 4. Blend in milk,vanilla and salt. 5. Pour into pie shell and bake until tested incerted into center comes out clean (center will look soft), 35 to 40 minutes. 6. Cool;serve with whipped cream. |
