Hubby has started home-brewing with a vengeance. Which means we have a lot of spent grain I don't want to waste. He brewed a cranberry wheat the other day which I dried, threw in the food processor and now have spent grain flour to work with. Ingredients:
3/4 cup shortening |
1 egg |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
2 tablespoons molasses |
1/2 cup milk |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
3 cups oats, uncooked |
1 cup whole grain spelt flour |
1/2 cup flour |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 cup dried cherries |
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Cream shortening, egg, sugar, molasses and milk together. 3. Combine oats, flours, and baking soda. 4. Mix dry ingredients into creamed mixture a little at a time. 5. Mix in cherries and chocolate chips. 6. Drop on prepared baking sheets (I use heaping tablespoonfuls). 7. Bake approximately 15 minutes. Edges should be lightly browned. 8. Cool. |
