Chocolate & caramel top a cookie type base. Sweet little bars to enjoy any time of the day. Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter |
1/4 cup sugar |
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |

1 can condensed milk |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup butter |
2 tblspn light corn syrup |
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips |
topping |
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. BASE:- 2. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees 3. Spray a 8x8 square cake pan with cooking spray 4. Line pan with a sheet of wax paper making sure that the wax paper extends up to the edges of the pan - see step by step picture 5. Lightly spray wax paper 6. Cream butter & sugar until light & fluffy 7. Beat in the flour - the mixture will be crumbly & look dry 8. Work flour in with hands until uniformly mixed - will be like bread crumbs 9. Press well into prepared pan & prick all over with a fork 10. Bake for 20 - 30 mins until slightly golden around the edges 11. Place pan on a wire rack to cool 12. While cooling, make center 13. CENTER:- 14. This mixture will burn very easily so stir briskly, constantly 15. Place condensed milk, sugar, butter & corn syrup in a heavy bottomed saucepan 16. On low heat, stit until butter is melted & sugar dissolved 17. Increase heat to medium/low & heat to almost boiling, stirring constantly for 5 mins 18. Set pan of mixture aside to cool down to warm, it will be very thick 19. Stir in chocolate chips to leave marble effect in caramel 20. Spoon mixture over base & smooth evenly 21. TOPPING:- 22. In microwave carefully melt chocolate chips & stir until smooth 23. Spread over choc/caramel center 24. Set aside or place in fridge until chocolate topping is set 25. Holding the wax paper, carefully lift out of pan & place on solid surface. Remove wax paper 26. Cut into 20 bars 27. Store in sealed container at room temperature |
