Attention all chocolate lovers! There are many good chocolate cake recipes.....Add this to your list of the best chocolate cakes! Ingredients:
2 cups white sugar |
1 3/4 cups flour |
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 eggs |
1 cup milk |
1/2 cup vegetable oil |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
1 cup hot coffee |
chocolate icing |
2-1/2 sticks unsalted butter |
1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder |
5 1/3 cups confectioners' sugar |
2/3 cup milk |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. In large mixer bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder,salt. 2. Add eggs, milk, oil, vanilla, beat 3 minutes with mixer 3. By hand stir hot coffee into mixture 4. Pour evenly into two 9 inch greased and floured pans 5. Bake 30 - 35 minutes at 350 degrees or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean 6. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans 7. CHOCOLATE ICING 8. In medium bowl, with mixer, cream butter until light and fluffy 9. Add, by mixing on low, cocoa, and powdered sugar alternately with milk and vanilla 10. Beat until creamy and spreadable 11. Split cooled layers of cake horizontally (I use long bread knife) 12. Cover top of each layer with frosting 13. Stack them on cake dish or serving plate 14. Frost entire outside of cake 15. This makes a beautiful chocolate cake, and it truly is delicious |
