This recipe comes from Esther Juhl and giving to me by her daughter, Shirley. Ingredients:
2 cups sugar |
2 cups flour |
1/2 cup margarine, melted |
1/2 cup vegetable oil |
4 large tbsps cocoa |
1 cup cold water |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 eggs, beaten |
1/2 cup butter, melted |
2 tablespoons cocoa |
2 1/2 tablespoons milk |
2 cups powdered sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Put sugar and flour into a large mixing bowl. 3. Heat melted margarine and oil almost to the boiling point. 4. Then add cocoa and water mixing well. 5. Add this mixture into the sugar/flour mixture. 6. Add the last 5 ingredients then mix well. 7. Pour into a 11x15 sheet cake pan. 8. Bake 25 minutes in a 350 degree oven. 9. Cool, frost and serve. 10. FOR FROSTING:. 11. Melt butter, then add all other ingredients, mix well. 12. For white frosting omit the cocoa powder. |
