Usually served as a special holiday treat, this candy is scrumptious any time of the year. The nice thing about it is that you can make it several days in advance of your romantic encounter if stored in a container with a tight fitting lid in a cool place. Read more . 1 - cup (2 sticks) butter. (margarine is never a good thing for (humans.) hahaha........ in addition, for this recipe, it will not work................ |
1 - c upsugar |
1 - cup semi sweet chocolate chips |
1/4 - cup finely chopped toasted almonds |
Directions:
1. Cook butter and sugar in a heavy 2 quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until small amount of mixture dropped into ice water forms brittle globs or candy thermometer reaches 300 degrees – about 25-30 minutes. 2. If stirred too often, the toffee may separate. 3. Spread quickly into 15x10x1 inch pan. 4. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot candy. 5. Let stand for 5 minutes. 6. Spread melted chocolate over candy, then sprinkle with almonds. Cool and break into pieces |
